Presidents message

Dear Fishing Enthusiasts:

I want to thank the many individuals, businesses, corporations, civic organizations, chambers of commerce’s, tourist commissions and local jurisdictions that have so generously underwritten our cause.  Fishing and the family values it supports are more important than ever before.

Meeting the financial goals laid out in our cooperative agreement with the California Department of Fish & Game is an on going challenge; your support is greatly appreciated.    Although the passage of AB7, the California Fisheries Restoration Act, has come and gone, the funding for production increases has stalled and other than a few filled personnel positions, the State Hatchery System has not yet received any AB7 revenue.  Once AB7 funds are made available, it is our intention to shift fundraising towards desperately needed facility and equipment upgrades at the Hot Creek Hatchery. In the mean time, we will continue to purchase emergency diesel fuel and fish food as needed.

This year we have constructed a permanent protective steel building over the critical raceway oxygen generation equipment with generous help from The Mammoth Lakes Rotary Club.  We have also purchased a state of the art fish hauling tank that is in operation and doing famously.  We are determined to bring this critically important facility back to full production and realize our vision statement.

With your continued support, we can make this unique facility a showpiece we can all be proud of.  Contributions to the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation Incorporated received by January 31, 2007 are tax deductible for the 2006 tax year.  We hope to see you next season at our third annual contributor’s barbeque.

TROUTSTOCK 2006

The second annual Troutstock event was a huge success!  Working with the Mammoth Lakes Visitors Bureau, Troutstock participants raised $9,010.00 for the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation.  When combined with the proceeds of the Boat Raffle, the Foundation had a very prosperous weekend netting $9,800.00.  The children’s fishing pond was a smash hit, with the help of Lip Ripperz, Performance Anglers’ staff and prized Alpers Trout, everyone had a great time.  To all who participated and volunteered to make Troutstock an event to remember, we send a heartfelt THANK YOU.

2006 ANNUAL DONOR BARBEQUE

The second annual Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation donor barbeque held this past September was a good time for all who attended.  With John Arcularius, Martin Strelneck and Garret Noles at the barbeques and Linda Dore with all the finishing touches, everyone went home with a wonderful meal under there belts.  The raffle items donated by Gull Lake Marina and Tom’s Place were a big hit with the group.  The final event of the afternoon was a tour of the hatchery lead by retired Hot Creek Hatchery Manager and newest Board Member, Mike Seefeldt.

Donations come in all shapes and sizes

2006 has been an exciting year for the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation.  Donors have been very generous with cash, products and discounted items.  For example, Mammoth Business Essentials has discounted services and supplies for the second year in a row.  Schat.net has provided web hosting and advertising on 395.com at no cost to help the foundation get the word out!  Please support those who support us.
