Presidents messageDear Fishing Enthusiasts: On December 7, 2004 the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation signed a historic cooperative agreement with the California Department of Fish and Game to support the operation of the Hot Creek Hatchery. I knew there are many of you out there who support trout fishing and the State Hatchery System, however I have been overwhelmed by the support our effort has received. I want to thank the many individuals, businesses, corporations, civic organizations, chambers of commerce’s, tourist commissions and local jurisdictions that have so generously underwritten our cause. Fishing and the family values it supports are more important than ever before. Thanks to you we have met our financial goals for this past year. With the passage of AB7, the California Fisheries Restoration Act, we hope the State Hatchery System will receive more revenue for production purposes. It is our intention to shift fundraising towards desperately needed facility and equipment needs at the Hot Creek Hatchery. In addition to our emergency diesel fuel and fish food purchases, we have completed security fencing around the hatchery. We are also in the process of constructing a permanent protective steel building over the critical raceway oxygen generation equipment. Step by step, year by year, we are determined to bring this critically important facility back to full production and realize our vision statement. With your continued support, we can make this unique facility a showpiece we can all be proud of. Contributions to the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation Incorporated received by January 30, 2006 are tax deductible for the 2005 tax year. We hope to see you next season at our super fun contributor’s barbeque. Tim Alpers
TROUTSTOCK 2005Troutstock was a huge success! Working with the Visitors Bureau of the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Troutstock participants raised $7,240.00 for the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation when combined with the proceeds of the Boat Raffle $7,500 the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation had a very prosperous weekend. 2005 ANNUAL DONOR BARBEQUEThe first annual Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation donor barbeque held this past October was a good time for all who attended. Assemblyman Dave Cogdill joined the festivities and commended all donors for their support. Raffle items were a big hit with the group. The final event of the afternoon was the auction of a 1962 Chrysler Station wagon. The winning bidder, a sixteen year old girl drove home to Big Pine with her father and a big smile on her face, in her very first car. Donations come in all shapes and sizes2005 has been an exciting year for the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation. Donors have been very generous with cash, products and discounted items. For example, Mammoth Business Essentials has discounted services and supplies to help the foundation get the word out. Hendrix Bait & Tackle has donated items to be used for the upcoming kids fishing programs and for the planned education/visitor center. A very special THANK YOU to all of our donors from the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation! Donations received January through November 2005 are listed. All donations received in December 2005 will be listed in the 2006 Newsletter. 2005 Donor Recognition
